Songkran Water Festival in Kanchanaburi

Songkran is a three-day national holiday (13 + 14 + 15th of April)  major water festival which marks the start of traditional Thai New Year.
Songkran marks the celebration of the lunar new year during which Buddha images are bathed. Monks and elderly people receive the respect of younger generations who sprinkle water over their hands. Songkran is also very famous in Kanchanaburi, as well as all over Thailand as a giant streetfighting with water for fun only.
