Kanchanaburi Prommitr Film Studios [V2]

November 21, 2011

This impressive 700-acre compound was a perfect location for making Thailand’s great series of historical films named « The Legend of King Naresuan ». These movies reflected the conflicting relationship between the Siamese Kingdom of Ayutthaya (the then capital of Siam) and the Burmese Kingdom of Hongsawadi. The events shown in the films lead up to the declaration in 1584 by King Naresuan the Great of Ayutthaya’s independence from the Burmese.

The making of these films involved the expensive creation of magnificent buildings and attractions through meticulous historical research.

Visitors may nowadays enjoy seeing excellent replicas of palaces and halls, pagodas and temples, ancient boats as well as ancient villages of both Ayutthaya and Hongsawadi Kingdoms.

The studios Informative guides lecture on various aspects of filming at stations of interest during the visit.

Many plasma screens throughout the complex also give very informative historical background and scene descriptions of the Naresuan films.
